Lina Zhou is a Professor of Information Systems. Her research aims to improve human decision making and knowledge management through the design of intelligent technologies and the understanding of human behavior. Her current research interests include deception detection, text mining, information extraction, web personalization and adaptation, and social media analytics. Dr. Zhou’s research has been funded by multiple NSF grants. She serves on the editorial board of six international journals and has co-chaired the program committees of three intentional conferences. She has mentored six female PhD students, and three of them have graduated and the other three are in progress. She also routinely works with female students at Masters’ and undergraduate levels.  The WISE group and ADVANCE programs at UMBC have played an instrumental role in her career advancement, and her mentoring of students..
