Associate Professor of Chemical, Biochemical, and Environmental Engineering.
Research focus is on designing biomaterials and sensors for tissue engineering applications. Scholarship is of high impact on the bioengineering field and has garnered over 2000 citations. Between 2005-2013, Dr. Leach has mentored 10 graduate students, 31 undergraduates and 8 others (high school students, postdocs, technicians) of which the majority are women and/or from groups underrepresented in the engineering field. Active mentor of engineering freshmen since 2008 with CWIT (Center for Women in Technology) and since 2011 with the NSF-funded I-cubed program. Dr. Leach serves on the MARC U*STAR Steering Committee and selection committees for the UMBC Goldwater Fellowship and Undergraduate Research Program. She is also a member of the 4th ADVANCE Leadership Cohort.
