Associate Professor, Mathematics and Statistics
Hye-Won Kang received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the supervision of Thomas G. Kurtz in 2008. Her dissertation was on “Multiple scaling methods in chemical reaction networks.” From 2008-2011, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota, and she was a postdoctoral fellow in the Mathematical Biosciences Institute at the Ohio State University during 2011-2013. In 2013, Hye-Won joined the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at UMBC as an assistant professor. Mentoring program in the WISE group helped her very much for her professional development. Moreover, Eminent Scholar program sponsored by the ADVANCE grant gave her great opportunities to communicate with her external mentor.
